Hip Hop and Salsa and NYC just had a baby.
This is the New Sauce album.
It is also the introduction of New Sauce as an original style of music.
There may be parallels to other music, but I’m pretty sure you haven’t heard something quite like this.
For the most part this is really an English language album.
Check Puertored for instance. He’s a Puerto Rican, born and raised in NYC, who is not Spanish speaking. In his household it was English.
I wanna talk about the origins a bit because this thing is really a long time coming.
This idea occurred when I was visiting Puerto Rico in 2000. I had a cassette player, but didn’t bring that much music with me. I walked to the local music store and ended up buying like 5 Hector Lavoe/ Willie Colon albums cuz I’ve always been a big fan.
So I had my Salsa tapes and a handful of Hip Hop tapes. As I’m sitting in a hamoc at my Amazing Titi Sile’s house, I thought of what now has become New Sauce.
I pictured Hip Hop and Salsa combined. Raw, ill, New York Hip Hop… And that raw, I’ll, old school Salsa. I figured it gotta have the Salsa rhythm cuz I wanted people to be able to dance to it. And I pictured kicking it off in English. I really saw it as an idea that came about as a result of growing up in NYC.
Some years later talking with JayMas he was telling me about his music ideas for Hip Hop and Salsa and Latin styles, that was aligned with this new style I had in mind. And through talks over the years we defined it better.
I struggled with a name for it for a long time. Then one day I found a title I liked: New Sauce. A nod to Salsa, but written in English.
It wasn’t till about maybe the end of 2012 that I did the recording with Puertored, for Bodega Down The Block. The Moon was cheese grilling us that night because that’s when it came together. That was the first real New Sauce joint. On that joint is where the production rule book for the style was written. And we wrote down those necessary ingredients.
Another great night for developing the style, was the night we recorded Puertored and JayMas for “La Vida Es Buena” another star aligned type of night.
So throughout parts of ’13 we compiled more songs. And we knew it had to be finalized, NOW, for a 2014 release.
I know it’s a great idea, but I also know that it’s just the luck of the draw. So we had to get this thing out before someone else does.
I think 14 years has been long enough.
Shout out to The artists involved:

Well what the hell does that mean?
And The Notes Amplify the Chaos…
I released Chaos Plays the Notes on Feb. 7th of 2012 – the same day the storm set in.
My mind got real heavy on me, and took me to a low state.
And it would fluctuate, but…
As the months went on, and the months went on,
The mind got heavy, and the mind got heavy.
I knew, before I released Chaos Plays the Notes, what the next album would be called.
It went from just a cool follow up title, to a more weighted meaning.
I see everyone around me struggling in one way or another.
And I realize how tough it can be to step forward sometimes.
So I drop this for myself. And I drop this for you. And anyone who will come across it.
It’s a Positive ZAP! TO ALL. (an expression of positive energy)
It can be an impolite sound.
I crafted it to sound distorted, noisy, heavy and dark at times.
Also to show beauty, and forward motion.
Shouts to HANU and The Village Mathematician for helping me out with this.
I hope to uplift.
I hope you Enjoy.
It was a trip.
Dedicated to Dante, Jadon, Evan, Myah, Ayla, and the newest little Emma.

Apparently Friday it is.
This is a new project I’m setting off.
This is the: “Open Beat Tape”.
This is volume 001.
The concept here is pretty simple. The instrumentals found on these beat-tapes are open to whomever feels like rocking with them.
Emcees, singers, even mimes are encouraged to take these foundations and build a song on it.
Use them for your promotions, free give-aways and mix tapes and freestyle sessions and such.

This is an outtake from the upcoming Rusty Joints album, “ATeNATiCa”.
I love it on it’s own, but It didn’t work for me in context of the other tracks on the album.
So I decided to give it out now.
Grab a copy and slap somebody in the neck with it.
Bring an umbrella. Ella.
And a shout out to Lee for putting me on to the sampled song. 🙂 ZAP!
Yes. This is art for the upcoming Rusty Joints album: ATeNATiCa.
But, this is not the album art.
This is the art for Track 01: And The Notes Amplify The Chaos. (ATeNATiCa is a type of abbreviated form of the track 01 title).
So that means each track will have it’s own artwork. There is 15 tracks.
Wish me luck.
This is an airbrush styled digital portrait of Rusty Joints.
A feature study.
This was done for, and inspired by the 24 Hour Ep challenge.
It can be considered an interlude between my last and my next album.
I heard about the challenge, and impulsively i started on 2 tracks.
The challenge was to complete a 3 track EP, that totals at least 9min of play time.
It took place last Friday, April 5th, 2013.

You can hear the other works done by those who were up to it here:
The challenge was started by Madeon:
Block in a Box
Sometimes there are ideas,
But no momentum,
10 or 20 ideas,
Sometimes thousands, and tens of thousands,
Hundreds of thousands,
Millions and billions and trillions,
(Not the the one from the Hitchhikers)
The ideas race around like bikers,
They terrorize the establishment,
The break bottles and threaten,
As many ideas as quarks in the broken glass on the floors,
They instigate to make a move,
There is no momentum,
Ideas never the problem,
Just clutter and motivation,
And too much hesitation,
How is it possible to have a googol ideas,
And still feel no inspiration,
Stuck with a block in a box.
Today I Had to Kill
Today I had to kill,
Today it was a thrill,
Today it was a thrill,
Then today I had to kill,
What could provoke,
What could push to make,
Decisions such as this,
That would radiate this pain,
Guilty I am,
This I know,
But I felt I had no choice,
I woke today to make,
A thrill I felt to elevate,
Creation feeds the soul,
Like sustenance on a plate,
(Though I could not relate),
See the planet was at stake,
That’s why I had to kill,
That’s why I had to kill,
I would much rather create…
I hear a sound,
Inside my mind,
I press a key to realize,
I act again,
I act again,
A song’s something to my surprize,
I feel enlightened now,
I feel enlightened later,
My creation enlightened me,
I thought I had created, it, created part of me.
NaPoWriMo – April 2nd
On the second day, I rose to write, but sike I did this yesterday,
That is not an April fools because today’s the 2,
Rusty Joints the robot,
Now amateur poet,
I think it’s something, that I can, keep up with for tommorow,
And the 3rd, and the 5th, even the 7th too,
Robots have thoughts and feelings,
But no one would have known it,
Another creative, on which to focus,
Up alien locusts.
NaPoWriMo, 1st of April. Rust.
Rust want write,
The Rust is up to the challenge,
A poem a month,
A poem a day,
Rust write away,
Now, but will he can it,
He has a hunch,
But then again look at today,
Rust is a robot,
Rust is up to the challenge,
Rust chips will fly off the fingers,
If he keeps up all this writing.
This is to celebrate the completion of ATeNATiCa, the follow up to Chaos Plays the Notes.
All the music is done, and now all the details have to be attended to.
…such as a bunch of artwork.
The time is soon approaching.
I hope you would look forward to it.
Grab a Download.
Started last friday, and I had so much trouble.
Took like 8 hrs to get a decent looking, very simple, sketch.
I was out of my mind and had that ugly feeling like I forgot how to draw.
Then a few days later, I was able to develop it, with a more peaceful mind.
And, soon after just zeroed in on the face. Finally I see that it can be done.
I want to try and make this as nice as I see it in my mind.
(a work in progress of composer: Rusty Joints)
I leave you with that.
Sneek Peek at the new album.
…and The Notes Amplify the Chaos
This is the first completed track, and the album will be on the way.
A follow up that is keeping things moving.
Hope You Dig!
Chaos Plays the Notes

I started to work on this album with a vision. I would sample only a certain way and approach it with a musical theme I had in mind.
After a few of the tracks were done, I ended up doing some more beats that just kinda ranted and raved at me how they are gonna do whatever the hell THEY wanted to do.
Then I listened to them and saw that, hey I think these guys are onto something. They kinda took it to an elevated level. Then certain tracks started getting the axe.
That’s when I realized the name of the album would be: Chaos Plays the Notes.
…and that I aint really in control of this thing.
That is a common misconception most of us have about many things.
So after blacking out for 3 months… I am awake and would like to present to you something completely out of my control.
because Chaos Plays the Notes.
…it’ll melt your ears off.
Rusted Wise Words of Wisdom:
Remember not to forget stuff.
I just got wind of this in the wee hours of Thursday morning, Jan 05th 2012 – not 2013 (just in case).
Akai Pro Audio, has released a video of their new MPC Renaissance controller with software sequencer.
Right along the lines of the, now famous, Maschine by Native Instruments.
For a little while now Maschine had its own category. Now, rightfully so, Akai is gonna step in the CPU host “ring”.
Maschine came out of left field and shocked a lot of people. I’m a proud Maschine user, and it has given me a lot of power at my fingertips.
MPC Junior is stepping up, and let’s see if he has some secret science he inherited from Pop Dukes. …and no doubt, he has studied his competitors moves.
Let’s see where this goes people.
They said it’s a 2012 release.
We don’t know the cost yet.
We know it has a built-in audio interface, so that has some cool points of being able to plug your turntable, ipod, microphones, etc, right into it and get to chopping.
But I am able to do that already with my Maschine setup… meaning… plug an audio source in to my interface, record into the Machine software and get it crackling n hissing.
The MPC-R sounds convenient, however, having so much connectivity in the unit.
As far as I can tell, The MPC-R will be able to do pretty much what Maschine does. They are just not explaining enough at this point.
I figure they are going to announce at some point: “Our MPC-R can do This, and This! that Maschine cannot!”
Then Maschine will say, maybe 3-6 months later: “Aha! Our Maschine can do That, And That… aaand Thiiiisss!!!”
So I feel excited about this.
I may not switch to the MPC because I have already gotten my start with Maschine. And the competition will make Akai announce new features… then… NI will announce new features. So my investment in Maschine may pay off more than I expected, and I’m already more than happy with the staring contests I’ve been able to have with it.
If you haven’t got yourself a NI box yet, but have wanted to… wait for more info on “Jr.” and see what you want to do. I figure whatever one company drops on us, the other will match soon enough. AND. This is mostly software based. You don’t have to replace the controller to get new software. Just download it, and we haven’t paid for an update yet. I’m sure that’s coming though.
Native Instruments is a forward thinking fighter. …but Akai is like a wise old dragon, don’t forget.
I figure after this first bout, someone is gonna loose by a split desicion. Then there will be a rematch, and a re-re-re-rematch for the Two Feroucious Warriors:
Blanca vs. Guille!
Ryu vs. Chun-Li!
This is the SNES, we can just keep re-matching… no quarters… and I just ordered pizza.
